HOW DO I REMAIN PRODUCTIVE WITHOUT BURNING OUT?

A THREE PART PLAN FOR MORE PRODUCTIVITY, LESS STRESS

Money, team culture, the schedule. Those are three topics that can send a dentist’s blood pressure skyrocketing! A simple three-pronged approach can make these stressful concerns more manageable, and increase productivity at the same time.

START WITH YOUR FEES…

To be clear, simply raising your fees isn’t going to solve your burnout issues. But when was the last time you looked at your fee schedule? Are you in line with what’s being charged in your area? It’s not just about bringing in more money, but nobody wants to devalue their dentistry. Make sure your fees reflect the quality of service you provide your patients.

TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR TEAM

When did you last examine your team’s responsibilities? Does everyone’s actual role match their unique ability? You may realize your best phone person is wrapped up in other administrative duties, while your better money managers struggle to talk to new patients. Think about how everyone can best execute the necessary roles to run an efficient, productive practice.

START “SCHEDULE JOURNALING”

THIS IS A GREAT EXERCISE FOR THE ENTIRE TEAM! Take some time to look back at the day’s schedule. Observe and write down what you see:

•What went well?

•Where did we struggle?

•What felt good about today?

•What strategies made the day flow better?

Again, it’s not just about the money…But looking at everything from the flow, to team contributions, and ultimately how much you collect is all instrumental in avoiding burnout. When you find the balance between finding happiness, efficiency and quality of  your work, the byproduct is a great life!
